New Projects

The following research projects were approved in August 2010:

 

Pathways, policies and prevention- linkage infrastructure

Prof Fiona Stanley, Telethon Institute for Child Health Research

This approval covers the linkage of new datasets for the Developmental Pathways Project. The datasets involved come from many agencies, including the Department of Health, Department of Education, Department of Housing, Department for Child Protection, Department of Corrective Services, Department for Communities, Department of the Attorney General, Disability Services Commission and WA Police.

 

Lifestyle factors associated with colorectal cancer survivial

Prof Lin Fritschi, WAIMR

This study will follow up on the health of 918 participants in the WA Bowel Health Study, which focused on the environmental and occupational risk factors for colorectal cancer. Information on lifestyle will be collected.

 

Incidence and outcomes following ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgery in WA 1980-2010.

Prof James Semmens, Curtin University

This project is part of the Safety and Quality of Surgical Care Project and will investigate trends in common ear, nose and throat procedures in WA.
