An investigation of the predictors of transition to community living in young adults with a mental illness
Dr Duane Pennebaker, DOHWA
People with a serious mental illness and their families can suffer social stigma from the wider community. Despite this, these people prefer to live in the community. This project will investigate the nature of recovery of obtaining, regaining and sustaining independent community living in people with mental illness.
Calculating injury severity scores from hospital separations in WA
Ann-Marie Chapman, DOHWA
A method of providing reliable probability of death estimates based on ICD diagnosis codes is ICSS (ICD-based Injury Severity Score). ICSS examines large numbers of hospital admissions, for which survival status is known, to form an estimate of threat to life for injuries. This request will examine ICSS in WA from 1985 to 2010 through hospital morbidity and mortality records.
